Europeana Art in China
An Immersive Journey Through European Modern Art
What if you could step inside a painting?
This is the the question and the challenge at the heart of «MODERN TALES», a conceptual immersive art exhibition conceptualised and designed for the Inner Mongolia region of China. The project invites visitors to explore one of the most electrifying chapters in art history: the European modern movement, from the late 19th to the early 20th century.
Drawing from the Europeana 280 collection, the exhibition brings together a curated selection of paintings spanning from Impressionism to Abstraction. The works were chosen for their storytelling power, their vivid use of color, and their ability to generate a wide range of aesthetic environments.
The experience is fully immersive. Large-scale projections transform walls and floors into living canvases, placing visitors inside the works through motion design and digital art techniques. For each work, we crafted a distinct atmosphere by deconstructing and reimagining its visual elements alongside carefully chosen musical themes, creating an ambience that fills the entire space. Presenting this chapter of European art in Inner Mongolia carries its own meaning: many of the modern European artists featured here were deeply inspired by Eastern aesthetics. «MODERN TALES» becomes, in this way, not just an immersive art exhibition but also a channel for intercultural dialogue.
