Petralona cave virtual museum
Exploring Petralona cave through Digital Innovation
In this research project we applied cutting-edge digital technologies such as 3D scanning, virtual reality, and 3D printing in order to create innovative ways of experiencing the Petralona Cave where the oldest human skull ever found in Greek territory. The aim was to design an inclusive, interactive journey, accessible to all visitors, including those with special needs.
Polyptychon conceptualised and developed a digital exhibition that invites audiences to step into the hidden universe of the cave, relive its ancient human presence, and explore the fascinating story of its geological formation. Through immersive content and experiential design, the project sheds light on prehistoric life while making science and culture accessible to everyone.
By blending rich content with advanced digital tools, Cave3 transforms a visit to the cave and museum into more than an educational encounter, it becomes an engaging, inspiring adventure that bridges deep time with today’s technology.
